Significant changes to the eTA and visitor visa requirements for Mexican citizens will take effect after February 29, 2024. These modifications necessitate new eligibility criteria for eTAs, impact current eTA holders, and introduce updated application procedures. Travelers, including those without work or study permits, must now meet revised criteria or apply for a visitor visa. This adjustment aims to streamline travel authorization processes while aligning with Canada’s economic and security interests.

New Changes for Mexican Citizens Visiting Canada

From February 29, 2024, Mexican citizens will face new eTA requirements for travel to Canada, affecting both existing and in-progress eTA holders, with a shift towards a visitor visa for those ineligible for a new eTA. These measures are set to impact travelers, regardless of previous arrangements or eTA status.

For visitors without a valid work or study permit, such as tourists or business visitors, changes to eTA requirements mean that any eTA held or applied for before February 29, 2024, will no longer be valid for travel. To enter Canada, affected individuals must apply for and obtain a new eTA under the updated rules or, if ineligible, secure a visitor visa instead.

Under the new rules effective February 29, 2024, eligibility for an eTA requires a valid Mexican passport for air travel to or through Canada, a visit up to 6 months, and either a Canadian visa in the last 10 years or a current US nonimmigrant visa. eTAs are exclusively for air travel; other modes of entry into Canada necessitate a visitor visa.

The languages only differ in their grammar, their pronunciation and their most common words. Everyone realizes why a new common language would be desirable: one could refuse to pay expensive translators.
  • To achieve this, it would be necessary to have uniform grammar, pronunciation and more common words.
  • If several languages coalesce, the grammar of the resulting language is more simple and regular than that of the individual languages.
The new common language will be more simple and regular than the existing European languages. It will be as simple as Occidental.

What is a Visitor Visa

visitor visa is a document in your passport showing eligibility to enter Canada, costing $100 CAD plus a biometrics fee of $85 CAD. Visitor Visa’s are typically valid for 10 years and often allowing multiple entries. Processing times vary, so check in advance, especially for urgent travel, as expedited requests aren’t guaranteed. Delay travel if possible until your visa is finalized to avoid altering plans due to processing delays, as IRCC does not refund travel expenses for delays in visa issuance.

For those Mexican citizens who are in need of acquiring a Visitor Visa, Canada by Choice offers assistance in processing visitor visas, ensuring applicants meet all requirements and improve their chances of a successful application.
