Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP)

The Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) is an economic immigration program that nominates people for permanent residence in P.E.I. The program is designed to attract skilled workers to fill job shortages or planning to buy or start a business in P.E.I. The final approval for permanent residency application comes from the Government of Canada. It is divided into three categories, Express Entry, Labour Impact and Business Impact.

Express Entry Category

To be eligible for nomination through PEI Express Entry, you must: meet the requirements of at least one of the Federal Economic Immigration programs, Federal Skilled Worker ProgramFederal Skilled Trades Program & Canadian Experience Class

Candidates are ranked using the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) which takes in consideration age, education, work experience and language ability in either English and French.

A nomination from the province provides an additional 600 points to a profile, the factors in the CRS mentioned above are based out of a total of 600. Hence, receiving a P.E.I PNP invite will give the candidate an excellent chance in the express entry pool.

If interested in a nomination from P.E.I, the candidate would need to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) profile with PEI PNP. Each month the province holds a draw inviting the top candidates based on the provinces unique scoring metric.

Labour Impact Category

The labour impact category is for individuals with a valid job offer in P.E.I and is dvidided into three streams.

  • Skilled Worker: have a full‐time, non-seasonal (permanent or minimum of two years) job offer from a PEI employer in a high skilled occupation
  • Critical Worker: have a full-time, non-seasonal (i.e. permanent or minimum of  two years) job offer from a PEI employer in an intermediate-skilled position, defined by the National Occupation Code (NOC) skill level C or D
  • International Graduate: have a post-secondary degree or diploma from a publicly-funded Prince Edward Island institution

Business Impact Category

The business impact category is for individuals which meet the minimum provincial score to proceed with their applications. In the December 16th draw invitations were issued for the Work Permit stream. This stream is for foreign entrepreneurs which are investing in the province by either owning or operating a business.
